Summary
No sirens sounded. The silence stays thick, broken only by a low, rhythmic vibration in the earth that feels uncomfortably close to a slow heartbeat. Above her head, the sky has simply vanished. In its place stands an impenetrable, vaulted ceiling of massive ribbed pillars, each three stories tall. Ninety thousand people died in the change. She is fifty millimetres tall, and she is still alive.
One Inch Tall, One Power a Day is a micro-scale System-apocalypse LitRPG. The world has shrunk. The monsters have not. Survival comes down to one new power every twenty-four hours, and the arithmetic of which one you pick.
The crabgrass is now a forest and the clover is a siege engine’s worth of material. A needle is a weapon, a ball bearing is artillery, and a hollow oak is a fortress that has to be designed, defended and supplied. There are fourteen iron boxes to open, a kennel to sleep in, water to barter for with neighbours who are also three inches tall and also frightened. There is a voice beneath the web that knows more than it is saying. There is a birthing chamber to run, a chimera egg behind a heavy door, a swarm in the grass, and a coal-ball siege that gets announced in advance, which is somehow worse.
Then the kill board appears, and everyone learns exactly where they stand.
The power-a-day mechanic is not a lottery — it is a constraint. Every choice closes off ten others, the ceiling is the least of what changed, and the things that were already dangerous are now the size of a city block.
For readers who like clever problem-solving, LitRPG systems with real limits, and tension that stays tension because the numbers never get comfortable.

Above her head, the sky had simply vanished. In its place stood an impenetrable, vaulted ceiling of massive ribbed pillars, each three stories tall, curving upward into a thick canopy of emerald blades that blocked out the morning sun. The stalks were translucent along their margins, pale and ribbed with microscopic glass teeth that glinted whenever stray beams of light sliced down through the dark. Crabgrass. Wren jerked her hand back toward her ribs and stared at her fingers. They were ridiculously small. Her nails were trimmed short, the skin pale and dusted with pulverized shale, but the scale was totally off. Her entire forearm was no longer than a wooden kitchen match. Her thighs, bare against the black mud, looked like severed doll legs. She wore her gray tank top and cotton underwear. Nothing else. Her boots, her canvas work pants, her flannel shirt with the frayed cuffs—all gone. "What in the hell did he put in that well water?" she muttered. Her voice came out thin, pitched an octave higher than normal…
