Summary
Dust smells different when it has passed through thirty pairs of starving lungs. It tastes of bitter lime, dried skin, and the sour rot of straw mats that have never seen direct sunlight. Corin keeps his legs locked motionless. Kicking out means dying differently, not less. There are thirty people left, and the winter is going to last longer than they will.
Oops, I Accidentally Started the Industrial Revolution is a prehistoric civilization-building fantasy about a man who starts with one impossible winter and ends up dragging a stone-age tribe toward something none of them have words for yet.
It begins the way all of it begins: with fat and rope, with fish counted on granite, with sunlight through frozen water and a crown of heatless light. Then gravel under skin, blood-grooves and broken pride, and the first tool that is better than the thing it replaced. Four tusks in dark water. A mountain spine that shears. Half a ton split with wedges. Red foam and cedar outriggers. Seeds, teeth and grass mantles. Ten seeds in loam, which is the moment the story stops being about surviving the winter and starts being about everything after it.
Every invention has a cost, and not everyone wants to be saved. Some of the tribe think the new ways are an insult to the old ones. Some of them are right. The tools get better, the society gets stranger, and the man who started all of it has to keep making the case for a future that most of the people around him did not ask for.
For readers who like practical, hands-on detail, social friction that is not resolved by being clever, and watching a world change one tool at a time.

Kicking out unannounced in the Den was an invitation for teeth; two dozen feral orphans lay tangled in the gloom around him like a nest of half-frozen vipers, ribcages rising and falling in shallow, desperate rhythms. In the far corner, a wet, rattling cough broke the silence—a bark that had gone on for three nights straight. In a clan that measured a man’s worth by the breadth of his shoulder blade, that rattle sounded like a grave being dug by inches.Against his ribs, a small patch of warmth stirred. A wet snout pressed into the notch of his collarbone, followed by a faint, hot rasp of breath.Corin slid his fingers under the edge of his bedroll, his calloused knuckles brushing the coarse twine lead tied around his wrist. Brant was barely three months out of the litter—all oversized paws, grey down, and visible ribs—but to the older boys sleeping four paces away, the pup represented…
