Whispers beneath the granite are the second. There is a first toll of the parchment, eleven names carved in jade, and a void vessel that should not be woken. Foundations at Brierhold. A velvet envoy with an offer that is worse than it sounds. Hunting under the blue moon. Ten days of decay. A ghost-wall that has to be navigated rather than crossed, and a blood-lantern covenant that is the only reason anyone gets past it.

Beneath the cosmic eye, things get stranger: golden amber, a return of the ascendant, the fel-cat doctrine, a second pathway of blood-wing, a steed and a scalpel, a march to the hollow canopy, a night of black glass scythes, a crossing of the bone sea. Something gets pressed into marble. A blue fox appears in the ruins. And the flesh has to be reconstituted, which is a chapter that does exactly what it says.

The worldbuilding is the draw — atmospheric, dry, and built out of things people actually trade. The stakes stay personal even when the scale does not.
